The Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design (ETDM) is celebrating its anniversary on 18 July. On this day, admission is only 1 euro. Guests can enjoy Regatt ice cream, a design workshop and a special tour of the museum and its exhibitions.
At 12 noon, the museum will host a workshop on designing textile bags using the letter-printing technique. Adults and children alike are welcome. Materials are provided on site, but advance registration is required. The participation fee is five euros.
At 15, a special birthday tour begins, during which guests will hear about the building’s long and fascinating history and see the exhibitions. The tour is in Estonian, free of charge and requires no prior registration.
At 18, the ETDM book club will convene to discuss books about Aino and Alvar Aalto.
Since both EDTM and Regatt ice cream were products of the 1980 Moscow Olympic Sailing Regatta, the ice cream has become the museum’s staple birthday treat.
The permanent exhibitions “Collected Works” and “Introduction to Estonian Design” will be open throughout the day, along with the temporary exhibitions “Estonian Design Award 2012–2022: A Retrospective” and “Head in the Clouds, Feet on the Ground”, a solo show by the jewellery and metal artist Leida Ilo.
In the museum shop, all museum publications will be discounted 20%.
The museum and the shop will be open from 11 to 20.
Free admission with the Museum Card and Tallinn Card!
